Backside Nosegrind

Information:
The nosegrind takes some experimentation to get used to the amount of pressure you need to put on your nose. You will also need to learn do a slight nollie to get off of the obstacle. Before learning this trick you should be able to 50-50 and nosemanual.

Description:
While rolling the skateboarder jumps and the skateboard comes off the ground with him/her. He/she lands with the hangar of their front truck on the obstacle and continue riding while the truck and the obstacle grind together. He/she jumps off the obstacle with the board and lands on all four wheels.

Technique:
1. Find a grindable rail, ledge, low box or whatever. I find it easier to do on a ledge, so you might want to try there first.

2. Push a few times and get some speed. The faster you go, the longer you will be able to grind for.

3. Ride parallel up to the object you’re going to grind with your feet as you would have them for an ollie. It will help you lock on if your front foot is more solidly across the board. By that I mean have the middle of your foot across the board.

4. Bend your knees and pop your tail. Ollie up and point your nose down at the object by straightening your front leg, but keep your back leg a little bent. If possible, land on the grind with only your front truck touching and not your nose. If you can’t it doesn’t matter, it just might not look as good or it will be slower grinding.

5. Put enough weight on your nose that you are locked in to the grind, but your nose isn’t dragging bad enough to stop you. You generally don’t want to lean forward, you want to be evened out above the grind, and have your legs bent appropriately to make the back truck lift off the object. Leaning forward too much will make you stop and throw you forward.

6. When you’re at the end of the object do sort of a nollie with out having your nose hit the object and land back on the ground on all four wheels. Ride away.

Additional Help:
Problem: My back trucks hit when I come to the end of the obstacle.
Reason: You’re either not going fast enough or you’re not doing the nollie out. Maybe it’s both.
Solution: Go faster. That will help at least a little bit. Also try to nollie out as your near the end of the obstacle. That can lift your back trucks just enough for you to clear the obstacle.
